Oh Sweet Spring!

Our children absolutely LOVE being outside, so Winter was pretty miserable for us and we couldn't be more grateful for the warm weather! I know some of these are repeats from Facebook, but I thought they were too cute not to share.

I cut Michael and Savannah loose in the yard last week with some finger paint and they had a great time painting-probably went through six big pieces of paper.

After the paint ran out, I traded paintbrushes for sponges and soapy water. They actually thought cleaning the paint mess was fun and the patio ended up cleaner then when we started!

Savannah found a "fow-er" and I showed them how to blow on the dandylion. The pictures speak for themselves.

March Pics

Here are a few random pictures from March...After the snow melted, we spent the rest of the month switching between rain and sun (or "Shun-shine"). Which was great, except that our poor yard has become a swamp! I let the kids out one morning when they were begging to go outside and this is the result...than heavens for play-clothes and Oxi-Clean!

Michael and Savannah love to be outside and play very well together. I think our yard is just big enough that they can play together when they want to, but also have plenty of room to play on their own.



Savannah carries the pumpkin bucket around constantly and collects anything and everything she comes across. Luckily for her, the people who lived here before us left so much random stuff in the yard that everyday is like a treasure hunt!



Michael likes playing baseball with Stephen, but has definitely not grasped the concept that he might actually have to move the glove to catch the ball! I love that you can see the ball hitting right in front of him and he doesn't even flinch!



In the past month, Savannah has grown several inches! Michael has grown too, but it is most noticeable with Savannah. The top of her head used to be at Michael's shoulder and now she is almost as tall as he is lol!

And this might be my favorite...in her dainty dress wearing daddy's cover!

So thankful for the little things!

Today Michael and Savannah had surgery to place tubes in their ears. It was made difficult by a really early morning and even harder because they were not allowed to eat or drink prior to the surgery. The surgery was scheduled for 7:30 am, but to be there on time (and one hour prior!) we had to wake the children at 5:45. They were so hungry and REALLY wanted milk. The surgery was very smooth and we were blessed with a great doctor and fantastic nurses. The kids were given crayons, coloring books and bubbles for the waiting area, and thank goodness for the bubbles! Savannah went back first and did great. She woke from the anesthesia wanting mommy and milk and after she got both, she rebounded more quickly than the nurses thought she would. Michael, however, woke fighting the medicine and in a fit. Stephen and I had to hold him for quite a while before he calmed down, but the nurses also let us leave much sooner than we were supposed to because they knew they were both so tired! We were all very happy to be home and the kids were running and playing like normal before nap time!

A day of firsts:
Today, we also witnessed several "firsts" with the kids. Savannah counted to 10 all by herself. She was looking at a book in the den and Stephen and I were off to either side when we both over-heard her counting the animals on the page! She is also starting to sing her ABC's and is talking and repeating words much more that a few weeks ago. She was so proud after and it was really sweet!

Michael and I were on the patio playing with chalk this afternoon when he drew a rectangle with four circles and told me it was a car! It was really the first time he has actually drawn something more than scribbles and it actually looked like what he intended. He also drew a larger on and it was a truck! He is slowing starting to take his time and trying to focus on what he is doing.

Otherwise, our life has been crazy and isn't getting much easier the next few weeks. Stephen will be swamped for the next two weekends and finals are quickly approaching! I have been busy with the kids and trying to finish uploading products to Pink Petal Press. Savannah no longer sits in her high chair and so we have bought her a booster seat for our table. She LOVES sitting with us at the table like a big girl and eating next to Michael! Throughout the chaos, we have been blessed with many "little" things and are so thankful for each of them!

Love the Little People!

We LOVE the Little People Playsets! I remember my Little People house from the 80's (think we still have it in a box at my parent's house) and how often I would sit and play with it. I remember the doorbell rang and all the little furniture to place!

Well, I just opened the new castle for the kids and we now have a farm and castle set up in our den. The castle has trumpets that sound and a drawbridge and the farm make animal noises when you put the animals in the stall! We have kings, cavemen, roosters, dinosaurs and dragons and a princess driving a tractor! This is too much fun...

Sweet Savannah settles for playing with the "old" farm while Michael hogged the new castle! She was just happy to have at least one toy to herself.

Oh yeah, Michael still LOVES the blocks! He built this one by himself, almost as tall as he is, and fantastic to knock down lol!

Yep, I'm stuck!

Michael and his "girlfriend" Brinsley jumping on his bed. They graciously allowed Savannah to join them! Brinsley is truly Michael's perfect match and they always have a blast together...
They even wanted to nap together, thumb sucking and matching "b"s.



Oh, Savannah-all that's missing in the tutu! My half-naked, helmet wearing, sagging diaper, daughter talking on the phone! I especially love when she pushes the stroller in and sings "night night baby" to her doll--oh she melts my heart sometimes!

Sorry, it's been a while...

SNOW!!!

It snowed again yesterday and overnight last night...and I mean it SNOWED! We ended up with about 12 inches and although it is quickly melting, we are planning on enjoying it while it is still around. Yesterday the kids ventured out in an almost blizzard and ran around in the "no" for about an hour! They had a blast throwing snowballs and slipping and sliding around.


Savannah uncovered my garden gloves...last week is was 60 degrees and I was pruning bushes in shorts, this week 12 inches of snow. Go figure!

Daddy landed a snowball right on SG's forehead. She though about crying for a second and then realized 1) it didn't hurt and 2) it wasn't cold!

"No-ball is gonna get you!"

She is licking the snow off of her mittens. Such a cute snow angel!

Yes, he is jumping and not falling (as would be characteristic of Michael!)

Valentine's Day

This morning was officially pajama day! Stephen set up a tent in the living room and we watched cartoons and played with pillows, blankets and twirly light toys Lovey sent. We ordered pizza for lunch and just had a good time at home!

My favorite part of this video is when he backs into the trash can and then leans on it like he meant to do it! Too funny!

What's been going on...

Well, to start with, this is Savannah's new lunch bag! I LOVE IT! My mom sent it for Valentine's day because she knew how much I liked it and was wanting to get it for her. Michael has a cool Cars lunchbag, but Savannah's was just a blah black bag. I made her a matching tag right after I opened it! Now for her backpack...

I have been needing to clean the white cabinets all winter long, but it is such a pain to try to keep Michael and Savannah out of the kitchen while I clean. So today I cut the Magic Eraser in half and gave one to each of them and told them our fun game was wiping the cabinets clean...I actually put them to work!

I felt bad after the manual labor, so we took out the play-dough and made a big mess in the den! Savannah is still trying to figure out play-dough and just wants to eat it:)

Remember Mr. Potato Head? We now have a whole vegetable head garden-potato, carrots and corn! Michael loves putting them together and Savannah has fun with it too. I think the simply toys work out the best!

This is the first completed quilt block for Savannah's crib size quilt I am making. I love the fabrics and the colors and hope it looks good when it's finished!

This is all the fabrics for her quilt. I love the pink polka dot on the end-that will be the back side of the quilt.

I sewed this little skirt for Savannah the other day during naps and it was my first attempt at sewing with elastic. Not too bad...up next, layers!

Savannah now loves to sit at the table and tries to get up there any chance she can. It wan't be long before she is eating at the table in a booster seat!

The other day I kept Michael home from school to work on potty training again and his behavior and just to have a fun day by himself. We bought this t-ball set and he loves playing with it. He can actually hit it pretty far and likes throwing the ball to one of us to hit. I see little league in our future!
